Leading with Purpose: Celebrating Polish Heritage as Director of the American Institute of Polish Culture, Tampa Bay

Since 2023, I have had the honor of organizing and leading these important celebrations as part of my role with the American Institute of Polish Culture in Tampa Bay.
In May, we commemorated the adoption of Poland’s historic 1791 Constitution with a compelling lecture by Professor Walter Golebiowski of the Polish American Congress, artistic presentations by students from Polish Saturday Schools in Clearwater and Tarpon Springs, and moving musical performances by pianist Milosz Gasior, who accompanied both the Polish and American national anthems.

In November, I continued this meaningful tradition by organizing our Polish Independence Day celebration, bringing together a broad coalition of Polish-American organizations, community members, and honored guests in a vibrant tribute to our shared history and enduring values.

We welcomed back Mr. Golebiowski, who spoke about Poland’s resilient fight for sovereignty, and Rev. Dr. Andrzej Gorczyca, who offered insight into the history of the Kościuszko Monument and its sculptor, Andrzej Pitynski. Kaya Grabowski, co-founder of the University of Tampa Polish and Slavic Student Association, introduced the newly formed student organization. The event was attended by local Polish-American institutions and special guests, including the Polish Armed Forces stationed at MacDill Air Force Base.

Both celebrations reflected our commitment to honoring Polish heritage, strengthening our community ties, and educating future generations. Special thanks to Eva Skibicki, President of AIPC Tampa Bay, and to everyone who contributed their time and heart to these unforgettable events.
